  2. She's a victim of a primitive and decrepit system...
[The Teacher回覆02/05/2013 22:07:01]Yes we do. But the current mechanism is inadequate because it's only meant to skimp off the cream of the crop and stigmatize the rest. I know it's hard to change because most teachers and principals were raised in that system.

Yes, I agree not everyone should go to U because it only cheapens the degree.
02/05/2013 21:57:08]But then, we need some kind of mechanism to classify the students. Honestly, I don't believe that everyone should go to university and get a degree.
[The Teacher回覆02/05/2013 09:06:23]For kids that age, the taste of real-life brutality should not come from school work, but from interpersonal relationships, or other stuff. This is just not healthy.

  3. I agree with you. It seems to me that the students these days are not as hard working as the ones in the past. Some give up easily and seldom try their best. Some lack motivation, while some are just lazy. Anyway, I learn a theory on self motivation from a famous professor. I seldom force my students to do things. Instead, I praise the hard working ones in front of the class and give a sense of success to the weaker ones by asking them to answer some easy questions. In this way, intrinsic motivation can be triggered. If I force them to do ABCDE, motivation will only come extrinsically and the effectiveness is limited. Besides, I am trying to find some videos on Youtube showing them that it is important and not difficult to learn English. Anyway, it is never an easy task.
