因著教育背景不同，每個人看東西的方法也有異。英語有 with the eye of somebody 的說法，表達某行業看事情的方法，例如 Jenny looked at the design with the eye of an architect，便是說珍妮以建築師的眼光去評價設計。

人眼說多了，不如說說動物的眼睛。猜猜 Catseye 和 bullseye 代表甚麼？根據《牛津高階辭典》，Catseye 是一種反射車頭燈的夜間道路照明系統，而 bullseye 則是箭靶的靶心，完全跟貓和牛沒有關係！

閒來翻翻字典，發現關於眼睛的諺語還真不少──

近在眼前：before/in front of somebody's very eyes
以牙還牙，以眼還眼：an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth
眼闊肚窄：somebody's eyes are bigger than their stomach
長後眼：have eyes in the back of your head
渴求：give your eye teeth for something/to do something

看了一頁半字典，栗子妹最深印象的是 my eye 一詞。My eye 在口語中解作不相信某人或某事物。想起很久以前做翻譯習作，因不懂 pray 解作 please 而誤譯，自此看見表達語氣的詞語便格外留神。
