某天補習,學生說想拿上海迪士尼跟香港迪士尼作比較,闡釋經濟學的供求定律。當時栗問她:「上海迪士尼不是比香港迪士尼小很多嗎?這樣比較可以嗎?」學生聽罷十分訝異,說根本不知道上海迪士尼比香港迪士尼小!
我教過的學生,大抵都是這個樣子。他們只關心自己小圈子內的事情,其餘的則不聞不問。若是小學生還情有可原,但都讀高中了,這樣子行嗎?
其實除了學生,連投身社會多年的朋友也如此。他們只顧埋首工作,對周遭的一切置若罔聞。偶爾閒聊,發覺他們連一些簡單的時事話題也搭不上嘴。每次栗望著他們,便忍不住想:這樣過日子,到底為何?
工作以外,我們該擁有別的生活吧?

現在小朋友喜歡名牌,時事沒有太大興趣。唉。

I think I was saying the same thing a while back. People in HK are too involved in money. As American would say "They don't have a life"! Their world is only around work so they can move ahead and earn more money. I think it is contributed to the fact that HK is still a developing area. Art and other non essential items can only happen in time of prosperity. When having a comfortable life is a given then people will become unsatisfied and want more. Wanting a more fulfilling emotional life.
