新一期的《經濟學人》中，有兩篇關於美國政務的文章，內容頗有趣：
奧巴馬的經濟主管小組，猛人雲集；除了經濟學博士，還有行內人敬仰的聯邦儲備銀行行長蓋特納。單看陣容，似乎抗衰退有望，但《經濟學人》提出了一個問題，就是團隊成員能否和衷共濟？
團隊工作，素來講求協調；但要一些響噹噹的人物妥協，並非易事，因為名譽要緊！萬一開會時各執一詞，互不相讓，到時可不妙了。且看奧巴馬這位魅力型領袖，如何讓一班諸葛亮合作無間。
奧巴馬提名希拉莉擔任國務卿，反對聲音不絕，有組織更以「怪物」(monster) 來形容這位前第一夫人。
不過《經濟學人》就認為，要重建「美國」這個國際品牌，還有處理與激進伊斯蘭派系之戰，以及要在國務院內推動政策，非得要像希拉莉這種「怪物」才能勝任。雖然讓她當國務卿有風險，但總好過讓一些不成氣候的人的來做，最後弄得一團糟。
個人見解，到底「怪物」做了國務卿後會否失控，全看奧巴馬能否駕馭。既然大家給奧巴馬投了信任一票，為何就不能信任他的管治能力和用人的眼光呢？
Cabinet secretaries serve at the pleasure of the president, so there isn't much damage she could do to Obama personally. Both her husband and she are brilliant lawyers, however, so she might try to use her position to enrich themselves and cause a scandal.

作為一個大國的總統,奧巴馬似乎真的很年輕。對於他的管冶,或許我們只有拭目以侍吧!
回覆刪除希拉莉給人的印像很兇捍,很權力慾。真的有「怪物」 (monster)的感覺,但作為 國務卿,強捍的性格可能又是必需的。
[版主回覆12/01/2008 21:05:00]南爾：我認同《經濟學人》的觀點，新一任的美國國務卿，確實需要性格較強捍的人才能勝任。
奧巴馬雖然年輕，但暫時外界對他的表現都頗滿意。至於他上任後優勢能否持續，真要拭目以待。
If you only knew HC the way I knew her! Anyway, she has a certain arrogance and feels she's entitled to be above the law because she's superior to everyone else and she has a noble mission to save the world. My guess is she and Bill will press the envelope as far as it will go, or as far as they feels they could get away with.
